Yet another i5-2500k build ...

My old pc running a 3.2GHz Q6600 died, (failing p/s took out my mobo and graphics card), luckily my insurance was good enough to cover the loss. However, now I'm staring down the barrel of a new processor, mobo, bios, and memory standard; honestly I'm a bit intimidated.

Here is the list of parts I have coming to me (my case, hard disk, and DVD drive are staying the same). I don't need anything stellar by any means, but any o/c recommendations or tweaking advice would be greatly appreciated.

Mobo: MSI P67A-C45
CPU: Intel Core i5-2500K
P/S: CORSAIR CMPSU-650TX 650W ATX12V / EPS12V
RAM: G.SKILL 8GB (4 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800)
GPU: ZOTAC AMP! ZT-40403-10P GeForce GTX 460 (Fermi)
FAN: Thermaltake Silent 1156

Motherboard - Comes down to personal preference of features / bios / EUFI
CPU - Can't argue there, solid chip
PSU is solid
RAM is more sufficient. There's really no need to go above 1600MHz on the RAM as it doesn't yield much in terms of performance
GPU - Personally I'd step up to something better, but that depends on your budget.
HSF - Can't comment.

Thermaltake Silent 1156

The Thermaltake website stated it was compatible w/ the new 1155 socket.

As far as the GPU, I'm upgrading from a 9800GTX+ which worked great for what I needed and the ZOTAC AMP! GTX 460, which has better specs, is the highest rated (best out-of-box o/c) of the 460 GTX series I could find. Plus with a mail-in rebate it'll only cost me about $190.

I'm building the same system, except I'm going with the GD65 and a Zalman cooler.

LOL, you would. (idk, j/k)

I did just notice something though, the memory I chose was designed for P55 mobos. Will this give me trouble when I go to o/c? If so, are there any recommendations /$$$?

the ram should be fine but if you can find a 1.5v set go with that as intel has said 1.5v ram is better for SB but most ppl are using 1.65 sets either downvolted or at 1.65 (not 100% sure on that yet).

If you are spending almost 200 for a gfx I say get a used 5870 from ocn and you get a better card for same price. Thats what I did.

As for the cooler get the coolermaster hyper 212+. Its about the same price and is the best budget cooler out atm.
