Then life isn't fair right? Its a double edged sword.

Like saying that is going to solve anything.

I don't really see how i DID acquire anything without paying and what excuse did i make? don't put words in my beak.I have never understood how ANYTHING under circumstances would justify piracy but would that be one of the reason?

So answer this:
Is the consumer at fault?
Or is the developers at fault?

I can act like a child and push the fault to the others and say 'you started it!' like most of you do or actually do some thinking before you make a fool of yourself and realize that both of them ARE THOSE CHILDREN.

Like i said , its better to criticize than to rectify , the only reason why its like a chicken and egg paradox(before it was solved) is because people think that its ends loop right back into each other when its clearly not supposed to logically from both terms not treated as an object but one lump cluster hence therefore generalization of "pirates" and "developers"(if chicken#1 laid egg#1 , egg#1 will then turn into chicken#1?).If both sides do not come to terms with each other by cutting both ends of the string then the debate is pointless. Now to answer my own question:

Would there be a chicken if not for the egg?
But would there be an egg if not for a chicken in the first place?

They do not have to thank themselves for being alive to give life to the other , they should thank EACH OTHER instead.I rest my case.

Great attitude.
I can also question your inference skills , just WHERE can you infer that i was stealing? Im specifically avoiding this statement because im not against or for piracy because its just and stupid and senseless as pc vs consoles debate.Just who are you convincing when the other has clearly taken the other side?

I really DO NOT see why you should shoot yourself in your own foot nor the point of your argument out of the usual 'piracy is bad! blahhhhhhhhhh' .If you said if i didn't get a demo then i would steal it then the reverse would be true. All of you are just derailing this thread to a piracy debate which is not the point of this thread. So tell me , if there wasn't anything TO LOSE and people would be encouraged to PAY FOR(as your above statement) , what is there to discuss about?

Didn't say you did dood. I was talking about the acquisition of "demos" in general.

^Now that right there is the issue. It is a cycle, that's just how economics works i suppose.

The issue with "piracy" is that it forces all major parties involved to do ridiculous stuff to prevent it. And it doesn't help that torrent sites and the like are so out in the open, it really doesn't help the cause much.

But yes we are running in circles here...

Except that corporates and consumers will never come to terms.

- Corporates: We want ur moneyz now for as little effort as possible.
- Consumers: We want moar and to pay less for it.

This debate will never end because no-one is right :/

I did not accuse you of stealing, at all. If you want to interpret my post that way, then so be it. Only the top line of my post was applicable to you directly, I should probably have made that a bit clearer.

I was basically making a summary of the general attitude in this thread. For example, the first post that I replied to, and your response to my reply.

It really does seem that the general attitude is to pirate something when you don't get your own way. By 'you' I mean a collective of people with that attitude, not you personally.

People talk about piracy so much when it comes to the PC but it is so rife in the console world too but people seem to miss this.

It costs bugger all to flash a 360 drive and all games are on torrent sites, NDS just needs a flashcart, PSP just needs a memstick, Wii needs Zelda and so on and so forth. Piracy is rife throughout the entire gaming and media industry and this will never change.

The difference is that console owners are 'guaranteed' that the game they buy will work. PC owners are not. I'd imagine a lot of people with high specced machines will have been very annoyed when they bought GTAIV and found huge lag amongst other problems. This is why PC gaming needs demos.

If I have ever tried a 'demo' in the past and liked it I have always bought the game as I like to have all my games on Steam, that way when I reformat the OS, the Steam partition remains, games remain installed forever, plus can be downloaded forever.

And with the frequent Steam sales, who needs to pirate? £6 for BFBC2..... get in!!!

As for Bulletstorm, I was really looking forward to this but am slightly disappointed now with it more than likely being a shoddy port. The 'next gen' consoles are so far behind in terms of technology now that we need some PC exclusives again.

I will try the demo on my 360 when its available but FPS games are so damn hard to play with a pad!

I would say thats mostly true, but with this game looking so questionable it would be hard to purchase without seeing it.

Stealing it? If I like it, I buy it, then there's no loss at all in that case, if I don't like it, I delete it...Then there's a lost sale they wouldn't have gotten as I wouldn't ever buy a game I couldn't try beforehand.

It's not like I'm stealing, stealing is you know, removing the object from the owners hands, this is copying it.

Careful, applying logic to the copyright trolls in this forum can result in serious backlash.

I've tried dozens of games - bought every single one of them that I liked (my Steam folder is ~400GB, and my /MMO folder is around 150, all paid for...) and instantly wiped forever the ones I didn't like.

I can't take back a crap game on the PC any more - they don't do resales in any local game stores. There's no way I'm betting £40 on a new game being any good, so I try before I buy. If I didn't have try before I buy, I wouldn't buy anything... apart from the certified AAA titles (DAO, ME2, BF3, etc), and even then I've learnt the hard way to be sceptical of the reach of big money companies and their affect on reviewers.

Naturally, I'll take a legal approach to trying something before I pay for it where possible... but otherwise I'm not at all bothered. Not even slightly. Not even the tiniest little bit.

As a net result of piracy, I've spent hundreds (thousands) more pounds on games than I would without piracy.

BRITISH LAMA?!

OT: As you can see , piracy can't be all bad (as above) , but developers (ubisoft DRM) can't be all good either.
