Hey guys, Not sure what the problem is my friend has the setup in the title with stock cooler. He claims there was TIM on the CPU allready when he set it up, Is this possible? I beleve that maby there was none at all! Anyway he says the cooler was put on properly, but he says it was very hard to get the CPU in?
So what do you guys think? Is it hard to get the CPU in with this motherboard? has anyone heard of such temps?
I am no expert, but I know something is very wrong!
Would love your thoughts!

Thanks, Sir Overkill.

There is really crappy TIM on the Intel stock cooler, it should be removed and replaced to ensure half decent cooling at STOCK speeds. And no, the CPU drops right into the mobo without any effort, I just put together 2 of these rigs for friends.

Yeah, problem is stock cooler. Why is he running prime at stock anyway? You'll never see temps that high with every day usage. If hes trying to overclock with a stock cooler smack him in the face and call him an idiot.

Hmm so would it get these temps with that stock tim on the cooler? Does that mean he would have had no TIM on the CPU? Anyways he said it was really hard to put the CPU in like he said he heard cracking on the motherboard!? Is it possible he put it in the wrong way?

Thanks, Sir Overkill.

There isnt really a way to put it in wrong. Plus if he did it wouldnt run. I had to put a lot of pressure on the lock bar to get mine to secure in place. And im really not sure what your talking about putting TIM under the cpu. It goes between the cpu and the cooler. If anyone put it on the bottom, well, i dunno, there are no words for that.

Replace the TIM on the stock cooler if he cant get an aftermarket one. There are some pretty decent ones that arent expensive. Also have him make sure all the push pins are in good. A lot of times that is the issue with stock coolers having overly terrible temps.

If anybody has any ideas I would be thankfuk, It reached 101C in prime in like 10-20 seconds! He is in another state to me so that is why I ask here, do you think putting on good TIM would get it back to normal temps?
Its at stock speed and I only said to download these programs because I want him to Overclock! But not with the standard cooler, he is going to order a aftermarket cooler soon. Lucky I told him to get Coretemp and Prime though because something must be wrong!

Thanks, Sir Overkill.

bump? Read the OP? I think it just may need good TIM, but this still seems a little to hot?
Thanks, Sir Overkill.
