Razer Carcharias or Plantronics Gamecom 377?

I'm in need of a low cost gaming headset for travel (already own a good Sennheiser/clip on mic combo), and my main concern is comfort. I've narrowed it down to a couple of models that I can pick up from Best Buy quickly, but I need your input. I've read the pro's and con's of both, but I need input on how comfortable these are. I have moderately large ears and I want to avoid the issue I have with my Sennheiser's where the top/back of my ears hurt like hell after a few hours. Let me know what you think and which one I should buy.

Can i ask why exactly you want a gaming headset if u have a Headphones+clip on mic combo ?

because everything about a headset is worse

Id love to know the specific reason so i can help.

I don't want to shove my Senny's in a laptop bag or backpack if I'm traveling. I like the convenience of having a low-cost all-in-one to travel with that's of decent comfort/quality.

Right i have the same problem with all gaming (closed cup) headsets, because there closed they sit on ur ears which i hate.

However these a good quality all in 1 nothing special for music but is does good positional sound and good bass however cups are only large and problem with it sitting on ur ears will most likely be the same. (steelseries 5H V2, http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16826249034)

The only headset iv found that is large enough to sit over my ears are the ATH-AD700 but thats another story .

What im trying to say is that u will struggle to find one with a large cup but is still closed cup.

what im trying to say is the 5H V2s are problem the best compromise, nice and robust with a good mic and reasonably cheap/ajustable Also has pretty good sound quality.

Hope this helps

I have the Carcharias myself, and the comfort level is better than a few other headphones I've tried. I have "normal" sized ears, so I can't speak for a person with long ears, but the cans are large enough to completely cover my ears and prevent discomfort, even over long periods of time. The soft, thick padding on the bridge is also comfortable.

Don't expect to be "wowed" by the sound quality, it won't stand up to Sennheisers, but it isn't low-quality either. As you said, it is a cheap on-the-go alternative.

Since there is a relatively large price difference, I'd try on the Plantronics and see if it works well, so you can save yourself some moolah. If anything, actually use it, and exchange for the Carcharias if you find yourself unhappy.

I hope you haven't bought one yet! Amazon is selling the Plantronics one for $30shipped and Sellout.woot is selling a refurb Carcharias for $35 + $5shipping. If you're worried about a refurb from woot.com, I bought my Lycosa there and it's been working wonderfully for over a year despite being a refurb.

Carcharias deal lasts for another few hours!

I personally own the Plantronics one and I like it a lot, it received a lot of good reviews for sound quality in it's price range, so that's what pulled me to get it. Music is wonderful and it works great in gaming as well. Only thing people complain about is the size and how the cans make their ears hot in the first few days/weeks of use.

I have not tried the Carcharias, though it seems to be good as well. Razer makes great products though they are overpriced unless you can find deals where they are half off (like this woot deal).

Good luck with your headphones and I hope I posted early enough for you to not get one from Best Buy!
