with overclocking, 100% stable doesn't exist, so why bother
yeah, this. if you're stable doing what your rig is built for, you're stable and it's a "real" OC. I swear to god back when I was OCing my e8400 I actually degraded the chip by running hours and hours and hours of orthos trying to make sure it was "stable". it would pass 8 hours at a certain clock, then i'd increase and try again, it would fail, I'd back down and it'd fail at where it had previously passed. never again, there's no good reason to put your processor under that kind of duress for that long when it's never going to encounter under real usage.

@balla: you should pm a mod to get this thread named the official and maybe a sticky. There are too many threads like this floating around and I believe this is the best one I have seen

To the OP...

I think you should identify the cpu (2500K/2600K) info somewhere on the 1st page spread sheet.

Edit: oops... nevermind I see it now.

So check this out. I installed sp1. Got the new linpack and ran some linx. @ 4.5ghz I was getting like 109 gflops. But it failed after a few runs. Max temp was I think 70c

Upped the vcore a couple notches. Fired off linx and left to get food. Came back and was happy to see it still running after like 20 runs. But noticed my max temp was like 60c, wth.

Then I noticed I was only getting like 39 gflops, *** major throttling? I need to od some more tests but this is strange.

How is it that I can get by with 1.30v at 4.6GHz and yet I need 1.42v at 4.8GHz. This sucks... Temps shot up to about 86 degrees as well!

Let's see how it does with FSX...

It seems these chips after a certain point need alot more voltage to increase speeds.

PLEASE READ.

4.8GHZ @ 1.368v prime95 small ttf one hour stable. (still working on lower V)

i could not get my cpu @ 4.8ghz with no less than 1.424v. Alot of tweaking in the BIOS, trial and errors but finally getting somewhere. i can post them if anyone is interested.

Since last week i have spend more than 30 hours overclocking tweaking and trying to find my best bios setting. i have gotten about 200 BSOD with all this trial and errors but is finally paying off.

I'm only at 150 BSODs. :-)

Really looking forward your findings.
