If he had problem with ram, 4.5Ghz and prime bland would fail also...
i say this becouse i had to raise vcore by 0.02 to get prime stable at blend

I think I will call it quits for now. I finally got some time to do some real tweaking and I have ended up with 1.365V set in bios for a stable OC of 4.7GHz. Temps stay right at 70C for the most part. So far so good for stability. 2 hours of small FFT's and 20 passes of IBT w/AVX.

To a certain extent, maybe...

He and I are on very similar systems and sitting 10-12C different at idle. You don't find that significant?

He didn't mention the ambient temp in the post I was replying to, so that could indicate he's either got high ambient temp or the cooler isn't doing what it's supposed to, right? He's got a better cooler than I do and my temps are lower at idle and at load for that clock.

Obviously it does matter, because that's going to limit how far he can push his OC. He's hitting 71-72C at 4.4ghz when I hit that at 4.6ghz... What if his idle was another 10C hotter?

Either his ambient is high or there is an issue with the cooler setup. I was giving him some additional information... whether or not you care doesn't matter; it might matter to him.

Seems like that should be fairly easy to understand.

I completely understand your thinking. Ambient temps are prob diff and not all chips are the same. Just cuz you get one temp doesnt mean he will get the same or better just cuz he has a better cooler. Idle really doesnt matter as long as its not in a dangerous temp zone. Load temps are what matters because that is what gives the room to oc.

you should add a column for 2600k's that say HT on or off, crucial information
post #338 of 401
And a column for non-k editons like mine.

Completely agree. In fact, 2600k with HT off should just go in the same table with i5-2500k.

That's funny, I was thinking of exactly that a few minutes ago when I decided that I don't need HT on.
