i5 2500K batch L040B354
Gigabyte P67A-UD4

4.6GHz IBT stable @ 1.3811v VID (no LLC)

EDIT: not quite stable, now stable at 1.360v (default SVID) w/ LLC enabled.

can't get any higher, and my DDR3-2000 kit won't budge past 1600mhz even with loose latencies.

I wonder the UD4 is holding me back? only 12 phase power compared to 18 or 24 on the UD5 and UD7. Or maybe microcenter just purposely buys bottom binned chips from intel? every CPU I've bought there has been cheaper than online, but sucky at OC'ing. does Intel secretly bin different batches and sell the good ones to major online retailers?

i5-2500k

4.5Ghz

1.31V

But I dont know if I am doing something incorrectly but my core voltage is jumping in CPU-Z a lot at full load: 1.288 to 1.296 to 1.304 then back to 1.288 etc etc....but I set the voltage in BIOS to 1.31...weird.

I would strongly recommend running that through p95 small ffts.... i was passing maximum IBT 15+ times and would fail p95 in the first 2 minutes

He's not kidding - mine passed 20 runs IBT using 7Gb ram and failed immediately in P95... however, all it required to remedy that was a minuscule 0.005V boost. It's worth checking.

2500k: 4.738GHz @ 1.376v on the ASUS P8P67-M PRO

I just could not get into windows with a 47 multi no matter what I tried. I suspect it might be the board... waiting on BIOS update for this board, I guess.

I think everyone running IBT should give it a shot on Prime95. I've been getting errors in Prime that were not showing up on IBT.

Stable in Prime95:

i7 2600k @ 4.7 1.36V
Temp max 74celcius; cores between 66 and 72atm.

I'm finding the voltage varies slightly with the CPU over volatage setting. In the manual there is a range provided but the higher the voltage the wider the range will vary. This is causing Prime95 errors as even a small voltage drop is enough to cause an error in Prime95 when running close to the minimum voltage necessary. For example right now my CPU Voltage is set to 1.28 and CPU-Z is reporting 1.360, but just a few minutes ago it was 1.352. Hard to dial in exactly where you want it. I'm not comfortable adjusting all the voltages across the whole board manually, so I prefer to leave the Over voltage on ATM.

Need more air flow through case, it's seriously negative atm. Waiting on 3x120mm billet rad/fan grill from mnpctech and 5.25 bay 120mm mount from Mountain Mods which will give me 4 more Scythe GTs to pressurize the case then I will give it another shot @ getting up to 5.0.

I really went light on the fans on this case as all the research I did indicated WC wouldn't be necessary to hit a 5.0, but for the vast majority of us with regular old chips, it will be.

If you have CPU-Z 1.56.2 then....

The CPU over volatage is probably doing it, I had the same concern till I found that setting in my bios. v is 1053, latest from Asus website. FYI I have the Deluxe.

Try enabling PLL Overvoltage in the BIOS. It's only in the recent beta BIOS AFAIK, so you'll have to update to that. Once I enabled that, I cruised past 47x.

I also have wondered this. But I will say it seems the majority of people need about 1.38 to 1.4 to get 4.6GHz prime 95 stable, so I'm not so sure your chip is clocking any worse than anybody else's. I don't think I trust some of these voltages people are reporting. I'm not saying they are lying, but I am saying I don't trust the voltage reported by the softwares people are using. I don't have any better alternative, though.

Another thing to consider is that some of those "better performing" chips are i5-2500k chips, so there's no hyperthreading, thus less heat and less voltage required.

With regards to CPU PLL Overvoltage, what does it really do? If all it does is adds voltage on top of what I specify in the BIOS, why don't I just specify more voltage in the BIOS to begin with? Isn't this the job of LLC?
