More like 60-70% load...

It's been this way since the pentium 4 cpu's

The AMD processors idle much lower in bios mind you.

My cpu for example is at about 45c in the bios and 28c idle in windows.

I just bought i7 2600 and P8P67 and yesterday i had to quickly exit while tweaking the bios since the temp was already over 75deg. :O In windows it's just over 30deg and while playing games it usually stays around 65deg.

I'm using a stock cooler for now but i'm gonna buy a new cooler today. Still, over 75 and rising in the bios seems strange to me... Also if i have my wireless keyboard connected, the mouse cursor keeps drifting to the left in the bios.

I have 60 degrees on the BIOS temp readings at 4.429 ghz. In windows, AI Suite is 34 degrees. Which one is correct?

Hi Guys, I searched the Asus support and found:

http://support.asus.com/Search/KDeta...845BC681B0&t=2

I find that the CPU temperature reading in BIOS is about 10~20 degrees centigrade hotter than the reading in OS. Is it normal?
Page Tools

Solution
That is normal as BIOS does not send idle command to the CPU, making most of the power saving features useless. You should be getting similar reading if you disable EIST/C1E/CPU C3 Report/CPU C6 Report in BIOS.

download coretemp, it will give you the right temps

What Bios are you using ? I'm currently using a Sabertooth P67 and was using a P6P67 PRO. Both showed CPU temps approx. 10C higher in the Bios than HwMonitor shows.
I updated to the latest Bios on both boards and now the CPU temps in the Bios are correct and match HwMonitor.
