Went ahead and pulled the trigger on this build. Switched the case to a silverstone GD05B. Nice looking case. Thanks for any feedback guys.

4GB of ram helps with an htpc running smmother? eh?

i have 2GB in mine, and i couldnt really see how 4GB would help it any. runs perfect. lossless audio, trueHD audio all bitstream absolutely wonderfully. cpu never goes above 50% and my system never really uses more than 1.2GB of the ram. :-/

MCM works great when people know how to use it. i scrolled through the xbmc thread over at avs and laughed because people dont know how to properly rename files and think that mcm and other 3rd party fetchers will do it for them. its hilarious.

also, i dont see the benefit of running MP over XBMC. XBMC imo runs a helluva lot smoother than MP. even with all the codecs set up properly on my htpc, XBMC still looks a TON better than MP. MP makes my movies/shows look so ... icky...

I don't like either, I prefer WMC, hdtv and free dvr service is a main part of an htpc for me. I like media browser over xbmc.

And yes I believe that 4 gigs of ram when doing things like browsing and loading hundreds of movies in your front end, will be smoother.

My main htpc only has 2 gigs and yes its fine. But you can get 4 gigs for 40 bucks so I see no reason not to. At this point I don't think I would build any pc with less thne 4 gigs of ram.

I also have this ram just sitting on my desk so I'm using it regardless.
