Core speed Auto setting to 800Mhz

ok my setup is an ASUS Chrosshair II and i just bought a Phenom II x4 955 BE
and no matter what i set the multiply too when i get logged in and check CPU-Z it has me clocked in at 800Mhz with a x4 multiplier

note this is the first time i ever tried overclocking anything but even when i set everything to auto in the BIOS is sets it to that

Turn off Cool N' Quiet in the BIOS, it downclocks the CPU at idle and can cause instability when overclocking.

Just remember that it may be necessary to update your BIOS in order to have C&Q work properly.
Atleast, it did for me. For some unknown reason, all bios except the latest for my mobo had CNQ support for K8, but nothing for K10. Considering it's a K10 motherboard, I dont even know what to say.
Either way, the latest update was necessary to get it to work properly.

Was going to say total fail due to no research, at least ASUS lets the boards run @ 800MHz without a BIOS update.

Otherwise, you would have basically been screwed.
