Corsiar Vengeance compatible cooler

Thread Starter
So, I need a cooler for my cpu and I've been looking at the Noctua NH-D14 and the Thermalright Silver Arrow. I'm leaning more towards the Silver Arrow, but my RAM doesn't wanna play nice with any decently sized coolers. The gigantic heat spreaders on the RAM would get hit by the cooler, and I'm not sure that I want to remove the heat spreaders.

So, what is the best AIR cooler out there that will not get in the way of my RAM? I don't really care about the price as long as it doesn't hit my RAM.

Thanks for any help...

Thermalright Archon comes to your rescue!

Its performance is equal to (or better than) the NH-D14 and SA. It is relatively narrower and so it does not hang over or above your RAM.

And it is compatible with your motherboard according to the official Thermalright's Compatible Motherboard List.

The archon looks very tempting, but it seems very narrow/thin compared to the silver arrow... I'm just gonna look at a bunch of reviews and see if it stacks up to my expectations...

Yes, by all means.

In addition to others, here in OCN are some reviews as well, from an end users' point of view:

Ok, so I've combed through a bunch of reviews, and I've decided to go with the Archon with another TY-140

But now I'm worried if this will fit snugly inside my HAF 932 with the stock fans. It seems wider than other coolers and after reading the FAQ on the thermalright website, it seems it blocks the first pci-e port on the P55 chipset mobos... I do have an X58, but im just worried....

obviously, this is my first build, an i probably have a case of OCD...

No need to worry!

1. Is Archon too tall to hit the stock 230mm side fan of 932?

Archon is 170.25mm tall. But HAF932 has 172.1mm clearance.
So, this is OK.

932 Product Link:http://www.coolermaster.com/product....category_id=18
(click ''Support'' and you will see the drawings showing the dimensions)

Additionally, member MrTOOSHORT confirmed an OK here: http://www.overclock.net/hardware-ne...ss-high-3.html

2. Will Archon block 1st PCIe slot?
See attached pic taken from the Archon MCL.pdf. This Motherboard Compatibility List file is downloadable from: http://www.thermalright.com/products...t_id=27&id=172.

Your motherboard is the green box and it is listed as OK by Thermalright.
Another OK.

Well according to this review the Archon doesn't beat the SA at all.

Thanks a lot... That's still a very tight fit between the case and the cooler (less than 2mm)...

I'll rep you on the morning...its just that I'm in bed right now (no it wasn't meant to be horny), but Tapatalk for iPhone doesn't have the +rep button
