MP3/Music Organiser

Thread Starter
Hi All

Just wondering if anyone knows of a good piece of software to organise my massive MP3 collection?

Basically what I want it to do is:

- Rename all the files in a consistance formatt
- Add track info (like album, year, gene, composers etc I think Windows Media Player downloads this info off the internet to some extent but doesnt do that great of a job)
- Volume leveling (one thing that annoys me the most about MP3 is that if I have a playlist for a party or what not I have to keep an eye on the volume of the stereo since some MP3's are loud some are soft etc)

Thanks

I would organize music by genre( or artist, or mood) in folders, then transfer it to the software you decide to use for either tagging or playlisting

Is MediaMonkey still king? I have 74,296 files across 6,905 folders... 203 GB worth. Almost exclusively MP3s...

I need something that isn't going to crash lol

Try Foobar2000. Can definitly handle 75k files. Nice tagger included, full customizable interface, small memory footprint. Freeware under active development with a large community.

For 'Rename all the files in a consistance formatt' i additional use Mp3Tag.
'Volume leveling' is called ReplayGain in Foobar2000 http://www.foobar2000.org/
