How does my E8400 overclock look? Should I change my voltage?

post #1 of 6
Thread Starter
Hi all,

Recently (Because it's summer here in Australia) pulled my 4Ghz OC'd E8400 down to the stock 3Ghz. Now it's getting cooler here, I pushed my OC back up, to 3.8 GHz. It passed IntelBurn Test on maximum fine (5 runs), but the temps are going a little high for my liking.

Vcore = 1.28v
CPU temp = Idle 46C, load 67C

Should I try lowering the voltage to lose some heat? Or is my overclock OK and the temps bearable?

Cheers.

temps are fine i would try and push it a little more as you have 5 or so degrees to work with.

Tried taking it to 4.00Ghz. Comp didn't boot, even when I pushed the vcore up to 1.33v. Tried 3.90Ghz, with the same vcore, still unstable as jelly. This is strange as I had it at 4Ghz a few month ago.

Any ideas?

Just to revive this thread... managed to get my E8400 on 3.8Ghz to run at 1.2V.

Max temps are around 54C, but in IntelBurnTest I lost about 8GFlops, and it took at least twice as long for a pass to complete. What happened?
