Got the beta key a couple weeks ago but haven't been able to get the client working.

I'll probably work on that now

Everytime I go to play it, I either get no mouse on the screen, won't connect to servers, or just freeze.

Problem with this Play4Free crap? That put crappy devs on it, while all the good ones and experienced BF devs work on BF3. Which is good for BF3, but makes this game utter crap because their only doing a half-assed job on it. EA has more plans for more Play4Free games like this and BF Heroes, I hope their Marketing team gets laid off, because its the wrong approach for PC gamers. We already get complete crap of games, we don't need piles and piles of it.

So how exactly does this game differ from regular old BF2? Just that it's free to play, that's all? New polished graphics makeover, or wut?

It's all noobed up to appeal to the masses. Basically just more simplicity (which is a bad thing), no squads, no commanders, less damage per shot, trails on the sniper bullets, etc...

Haha! Wow, I just searched my email and I found one from EA in the trash that had the closed beta key from the middle of December. My bad

I know one of the devs working on this game and his history was BF1942, BF2, BF2142 and BF:H.

In fact, if you search, you'll find him doing press events about BF2. So, no, there are some brilliant devs on this.
