Seasonic S12II 430 or SS300-ET

Thread Starter
Hi All,

Looking for a new PSU for my bedroom HTPC - I've got a S12II 430 powering my main rig and I love it. But, the bedroom HTPC is a low power rig, and I am looking for the quietest PSU for it (short of going with Seasonic's fanless 400W unit). 300W is more than enough, but lately I hate buying PSU's that don't have EPS capability... just in case I'll need it in the future (highly more likely than needing a second (or even first in this case) PCI-E power connector).

So, is the S12II series that much better than their bottom of the line PSU's, and is there any difference in noise?

Other suggestions? Modular is preferred, but length is an issue...

Any help is appreciated.

Unless you get one of the expensive SeaSonic fanless units, you're not gonna find a modular unit in that wattage range.

The lowest wattage Seasonic X series unit (I think it's the x560) is modular and almost as quiet, it's entirely silent at low power outputs and the fan only comes on when it needs to.
Plus it's about the same price as the fanless x400 (In fact it's exactly the same unit, the x400 is downrated from the 560 because of the lack of the fan to keep it cool at higher power outputs).
