i5-2500k frequency/voltage chart

Thread Starter
This is what I get for my i5-2500k with Gigabyte UD3 board. For each frequency it shows minimum Vcore the CPU needs for stable operation.

All tests were with the latest BIOS, with "automatic PLL overvoltage" on. "Automatic PLL overvoltage" lets me get above 4.4 GHz, but does not seem to have any effect on needed Vcore.

At full load, the actual voltage on the CPU is lower than the BIOS setting. That's called vdroop. So, for example, to get 1.36 V with 4 threads of prime95 running, I have to set BIOS to 1.43 V.

Looks like the system would be stable at 1.40 V at 4.8 GHz, that would require BIOS set to 1.45 V, but I'm not made of money and I don't want to risk burning the CPU.

I think you got a good chip! smile.gif

Im very happy with how mine performs but I sure would like to go above my 4.5 GHz but to get it stable I need atleast 1.4V wich I dont like tongue.gif
