Eyefinity Display Detection Issues(1xHDMI, 2xDP)

Got a 6950.

So I'm getting my system up and running. Installed WIN7, Installed AMD/ATI Drivers and Catalyst.

Thing is, only two displays are detected, the third one is disabled.

All three displays are HDMI only(VGA too but no DVI)

Center display is on HDMI port, the two side displays are on mini display port adapters(HDMI to MiniDP).

So when I boot the machine, the BIOS screen shows up on the two side displays, but once the desktop is up, the center comes on and the right side goes dark.

The display is recognized in Catalyst, but disabled and I cannot seem to enable it.

Also, looks like the center display(HDMI port) is being recognized as an HDTV and not an LCD display?

Finally, the right side display image extends to the edges, while the center display does not. Viewable area is smaller than the screen. Resolution is set to 1080P though...

Stumped....

I can disable one side and enable the other, but if I choose to extend the third one while the other two are on it says i have to disable one in order to enable another?

Are you using active mini displayport adapters?

I assume so, they are working fine...but not both at the same time.

They are Dynex MiniDisplay to HDMI.

So I can alternately disable one side monitor and enable the other, but not both at once.

I just got my 6950 today and I order it with an active display port to DVI. Everything is working perfectly. Don't ASS..U..ME you have an active DP port because it might be passive. If you're sure it's an active DP then go to CCC, Desktop & Display , and check to see if it detected 3 monitors. If so create a display group for eyefinity.

Sounds like you need an active Mini-DP to HDMI/DVI adapter.

I had the same problem too when I first started using eyefinity. Only 2 screens would work simultanouesly didn't matter which two but the third would never come on.

For eyefinity to work you need a monitor that has a DP/MiniDP connection

OR

You need an active adapter (mini-DP/DP to HDMI/DVI). Active meaning it's powered by an external source or it's using a USB connection for power.

MiniDP-VGA adapters also work. I'm using an Apple made one from Best Buy. I recommend caution when using this I can't gaurantee if it will work for you. It should but keep the packaging and the bill if you decide to use this adapter. Just incase you gotta return it if it doesn't work.

So I ordered two certified adapters for the miniDP's. Accell B086B-002B's.

Still the same. I can tell the OS sees the third display because if I unplug it I hear the disconnect chime. Third monitor is listed in the Displays control panel but the icon is small and grey, and in catalyst if you right-click try to extend it, it claims another display has to be disabled first.

I don't get it. I'm missing something here.

All three displays have HDMI cbales going out...
- One HDMI goes into the HDMI port
- Two HDMI's go to Accell active adapters and into both miniDP ports

Catalyst shows

AMD has a pretty good web tool...be sure not to deviate from it.

http://www.amd.com/us/products/techn...es/set-up.aspx

Sounds like you have the right adapters in and meet the requirements.

This is what I would do... use drive sweeper to clean out any old drivers and then resinstall the latest AMD driver from scratch.
