Eyefinity Display Detection Issues(1xHDMI, 2xDP) - Page 2

I'd try a windows reinstall. Also if you want to take drivers and all out of the equation you can try burning a Ubuntu boot cd and going to Properties>Monitors and see if they are all detected on the hardware side.

one thing you haven't clarified is if you are trying to do extended desktop or eyefinity
post #13 of 28
If you have the right adapters and neither are working, have you tried isolating your video card ports to see whether one of them is defective?

Seriously doubt drivers have anything to do with this.

each display works individually, and I can get any two displays working, so it's not a defective port.

Not really related but I had similar issues with a Dynex MiniDP to VGA adapter - well actually, it never worked at all with only one display connected to my 6950 regardless of the monitor type (LCD/CRT). Switched to an Apple adapter and it worked with a quirk.. It occasionally complains about losing sync when switching between eyefinity and triple desktop modes - but no visual problems show up... strange.

Any chance you could use one of the DVI ports instead?

Yeah that is some annoying stuff, man, I don't know why it isn't working out. Maybe you could try a DVI to VGA adapter or DP to VGA adapter but it doesn't explain why what should be working is not working.

So what you have now is 2 DP to HDMI adapters and one screen on HDMI?
That probably only works with special cards like the 5750Flex from Sapphire. You are only allowed to use 2 DVI connections at the same time (HDMI is DVI with a different plug for easy speak). Now the card probably uses the 2 DP's to send DVI signals over, thats why the HDMI port gives nothing now.

My 3 eyefinity system is hooked up using 2 DVI (HDMI) cables to 2 screens and I am using one DP to VGA adapter I got from ebay for 15$. If appreciated I can PM the seller.
This setup works perfectly eventhough one screen is on VGA.

Still the same. I can tell the OS sees the third display because if I unplug it I hear the disconnect chime. Third monitor is listed in the Displays control panel but the icon is small and grey, and in catalyst if you right-click try to extend it, it claims another display has to be disabled first.

I don't get it. I'm missing something here.

All three displays have HDMI cbales going out...
- One HDMI goes into the HDMI port
- Two HDMI's go to Accell active adapters and into both miniDP ports

Catalyst shows
That part number comes up as either an adapter CABLE or single link adapter but w/o eyefinity certification. Nvm, according to Accell it is eyefinity ready on the adapters, now that's puzzling.

That's interesting. I was wondering about that myself but since he is using 2 DP + HDMI, and not 2 DVI+HDMI, he should be fine. However, if, as you say, the DVI adapters are making the card actually push through DVI signals rather than DP signals, that would explain the problem. But it would also be pretty retarded. Actually I think this cannot be the answer, because many people have no DP on their monitors and have to use a DP-->DVI/HDMI adapter to run Eyefinity, while running straight DVI or HDMI on their two other monitors.

Maybe Accell just has its **** mislabeled and the adapters are not what they say they are. Can you confirm that it's not just a product labeling mistake - I mean, other people are using this same adapter?

How NCIX got their 3 hmdi tv's (which is basically what the OP has with 3 hdmi) to work was by using 1 straight hdmi, 1 dvi to hdmi adapter, and then one dp to dvi with a dvi to hdmi cable. They used a dp to dvi because the 6870. You'd use a mini dp to dvi adapter.
