16GB 3GS or Samsung Captivate? - Page 6

Samsung all the way. It's WAY more powerful than the 3GS. Also, I don't like a single bit iOS but I love Android on the other hand.

I know that the Captivate is a better phone from a hardware perspective but considering that the 3GS is jailbroken, the iPhone probably wins for potential software functionality.

Is "rooting" like a jailbreak?

I wouldn't necassarily say the iPhone wins in functionality, even jailbroken (and the captivate can be rooted/flashed which is more customizable than jail braking). There are certain things it can do that the Captivate can't, and vice versa. 98% of things are easily doable on both. The real difference is how they each do them. That is once again down to preference.

I'm still on Serendipity 3.0 with stock modem/kernal of that rom, but I may try darky again. Seems it has a lot of good reports, but I don't want to flash it again to realize I still can't receive phone calls with it.
