Why there is lag in Furmark?

I do stress test and benchmark with Furmark, and the "circle" would be lag(smoother normal then suddenly lag for a second, keep repeating like that smooth, lag, smooth, lag.....) my e6500 3.66Ghz first core is almost 100% while running the test. There is no other problem in the furmark screen, everything works fine except this. No matter I OC the graphics card or not same result. Any idea? My cpu is not fast enough so cpu 100% make the lag happen?

Furmark will usually max out a core when doing testing, the lag is because your stress testing your video card, that means there will be spikes in the frame rate, and periods where it lags that is perfectly normal. Just a minor question though, are you participating in any folding project?

so you mean it is using 1 cpu and make the cpu runs almost 100% all the time, so there is lag?

What is folding project?
