How much faster are SATA DVD burners at data verifacation?

Thread Starter
Not the best place to post this...

My IDE burner burns normally at 16x, but the data verification is most always slow.

Burning just took ~6min, the data ver. took ~13min, sometimes it's quicker, but not by much.

Now it used to be about like that when I was using an IDE burner and IDE HDD connected.

Do SATA DVD burners speed this up, and about by how much?

I notice no difference honestly. 6X dvd still took the same amount of time to burn on SATA compared to IDE. That was on my old Dell PC.

As far as I know no DVD reader/burner in existence can exceed the bandwidth provided by IDE, the only advantage of SATA in this case is to reduce cable clutter.

We will put it this way...you're not going to find a BR Burner with an IDE interface. Its too slow for the stream of data going to the drive. Otherwise you would be sitting there FOREVER.
If the read speed of the drive is higher, it might be faster.

IIRC when doing transfers the max I can get out of a DVD is ~7.5 MB/sec, which is WAY below the ~100 MB/sec of IDE.
