what size monitor to get - Page 3

My U2711 (27" IPS), is just under 2ft away from where I sit, and I don't get any eye strain.

If anything, eye strain is caused by being too close, or far away, from said monitor.

There are 21.5" models like the Dell U2211H or HP ZR22w, but the pixel pitch on them are tiny.

The 23" Dell U2311H (what I own) frequently goes on sale from what I've seen and has even gone as low as $200 I believe, but it's usually about $240 with vouchers.

Other 23" IPS include the ViewSonic VP2365wb or the NEC EA231WMi. Both use the same IPS panel as the U2311H but don't include any overdrive, so if you're planning to play games, you may notice some ghosting.

There are some new IPS monitors coming out like NEC EA232WMi (23"), ASUS PA246Q (24"), LG are releasing a whole load of various sizes and Fujitsu as well. However most of these also use LED backlighting which means the price of them will be pretty hefty. The cheapest 24" IPS currently is the HP ZR24w, which I recommended in my first post.

See Im looking for a monitor as well, but the monitor I have now has a brightness of 400 cd/m2. Im afraid that if I get a monitor with only 250 cd/m2 like this one I would be disapointed with brightness. The Asus's linked on page one had 300 cd/m2 brightness and one was 2ms reponse time, looked a little more appealing for less money.

the monitors sits about 2 feet away from me maybe a little over...what size do you recommend
Don't get anything under 22" unless you would run a lower resolution instead of the recommended. My 21.5 samsungs can be pretty straining since they are 1080p on such a small screen

Save the budget and get a dell IPS, or a samsung all my samsung monitors have been brilliant.

mine are the smaller version of this monitor and they are great. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16824001386

yeah, the first one with the 5 ms..ehh..seems a bit sluggish to me, but that's because I've been staring at a 2ms screen for a while now...but...what about your graphics card..?? It's gonna be difficult to feed that screen at max game settings with anything under a 5870... Or is that not an issue?
