Hi

I am new so hello to you all.
I need your help , I have gigabyte gtx570 and i7 920 , my PSU http://www.chieftec.com/smart-power.html the 550W version.

Can i add more voltage to the gtx570 for getting more stable oc without a worry of over power consumption ? (my stock voltage is 0.988)

I am using MSI afterburner and i am stable at 785/1570/2026 at stock voltage.

Thanks.
Raz.

Yeah you'll need to up the voltage at a certain point to increase the clocks, you should be fine up to ~1.13v from what I've heard.

EDIT: Your power supply doesn't look great, only 500W and a 570 could easily eat up 219W on a full load.

What is your 920 clocked at?

Not on that power supply.

I wouldn't trust that to power my toaster.

Never mind, I see you edited it out.

OP: You may run into issues as the limit of that power supply is reached. I'd recommend at least 650w, to have overhead room when overclocking.

So you saying that i can risk my system ? About 10% more voltage can really increase the power consumption of the GPU?

To tell you the truth I would have never used a no name psu for a Nehalem build to begin with.

You don't know if that thing is even supplying it's rated 550w.

If that PSU goes you could be prepared to say goodbye to anything connected to it.
