Rosewill's THOR

Couple of people asked me about this case. So I figured I would post some screens and a short review.

Here is the case http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...tem=11-147-094

I picked the case up on a combo deal from newegg with a Radeon 6950 saved me about 50$.

Let me first off say that this thing is huge. I'm coming from a store bought HP desktop and this case is a monster.

So the review-
Pros-
- This thing is huge.
- The 5.25" bays are very easy to use. The screwless design is very nice.
- The internal 3.5" bays are very easy to use also. They also come with predrilled holes so mounting those 2.5" SSD are a piece of cake
- Fan controller - there are two knobs on the front of case. But what they do not tell you is that each knob can control up to 3 fans each.
- The Cable management inside was nice and clean.
- LEDS in front ( red )
- USB 3.0
- eSATA on front
- 3 - USB 2.0 on front
- Top fin design is cool ( see below for con with this )
- Free fans
Cons-
-Quality control issues;
- one of the mobo stand off holes was off a bit and took some work to get the screw in
- one of the 3 pin fan connectors had fallen off
- internal 3.5" bays 2 were damaged and require me to use some pliers to reshape
- Not GPU friendly...It honestly took me an hour to install my 6950. It was a huge pain. I ended up having to cut off some brackets in the back to fit my GPU in. I dont know what happened here, but nothing lined up right.
- screwless design for gpu install is worthless. doesnt fit right and is way to tight when locked down.
- motherboard is way to high on this case, my 8pin connect for my mobo is almost too short. As you can see in the pic below, I will have to buy an extension if I want to hide the cable. Also on this note, with an after market cooler in the case good luck getting to anything on the top of the motherboard. Unless you have little kid hands.
-Top fin design did not open up as much as I would like it to. I say maybe 30% is all that it opens. It's a cool design, but I would like more control as to how much I would like it opened too.
- Only 1 LED fan ( sorry I like LEDs )

Conclusion- This isnt a world class case. In hindsight I would have rather gotten a mid-tower of the NZXT Phatom. The price isnt worth the hassle. At 150$ plus 20$ to ship get something else. Unless you are in the market for a HUGE case with problems. Too many little issues that are unacceptable for me for paying 100$ + on a case. Rosewill's Armor Gaming case is getting rave reviews, I was on the fence about that one, but I think that's where my money should've go. If the price comes down on this and maybe the offer free shipping I could recommend it, until then save your pennies.

* No pics with running lights yet, still waiting on RAM.( If you guys want me to take specific pictures of anything inside the case feel free to PM, ill post em up )
Box was huge

30%????

okay i was really considering this case, i have a couple questions..
1. can you take a ruler and give me measurements of how big a mother board can fit (looking to fit a evga sr2 in it)
2. i dont think i will have issues with the wire lenght but in your opinon do you think that this case can fit four gtx 580 and two cpus that are water cooled?
3. do you think the COOLER MASTER HAF X RC-942-KKN1 is a better case than this one?

1. EVGA sr2 uses HPTX form factor, the Thor says it only works with Micro ATX, ATX, E-ATX, XL-ATX. Inside measures 13.5" x 10.3". The Evga sr2 measures 15.0" x 13.6". So No.
2. 3 is definite but 4 might be pushing it.
3. I have never owned a 94 so I couldnt comment. Thor runs cheaper, but 942 has been on the market awhile. Also on newegg it gets 5/5 eggs.

To be honest the GPU issue really killed me on this case. If it would have worked well, I probably would recommend this, but I can only imagine what it would be like for someone running sli or crossfire to have to deal with the GPU issue twice..

Seems like an interesting case, I think a few of the issues are due to the psu being on the bottom and it having 10 expansion slots, this forces the case to either be extremely tall or for there to be no room above the motherboard. This would also cause the issue with the 8-pin distance. Imo it looks rather nice for the price given the size, there aren't very many cases with 10 expansion slots on the market right now, there is the case I have which looks gimmicky and completely lacks any good cable management, and then there are lian lie and cube cases but those are $300+.

I'd like to point out that the design for that case is based on the Aerocool Xpredator that's only available in Europe. When my friend and I noticed that, he was eager to get this case. Check out this picture and you can compare the two.

Wow. They're so close its scary. I'd get the Aerocool just because I don't trust the Rosewill name.

Are they not the same case but the Rosewill is just a rebrand? If it is only "based" on it, then some of the problems you listed may not be present. I thought those top fins were slanted a bit more than that, maybe an optical illusion though.
Rosewill is a rebrander, guys. This is what they do. It began with the ADATA DVD Burners.
