Cheap Metal Brake?? - Page 3

Does anybody even use a metal brake?
I was thinking about buying the same one at harbor frieght, I'm glad I didn't after seeing how well it worked for OverKill, I went cheap today and screwed a couple pieces oak together to bend some sheet metal, it didn't come out perfect but close.

Tell me about it. I don't think I will ever bother going back there after I return it.

I will get back to you on the dimensions this weekend. I have been very busy at work and haven't had a moment to take out the calipers. I appreciate your offer, and I hope it still stands.

If you want to give it a go though, make sure the bends are perpendicular to the grain of the material and keep the bend radius as big as you can (while meeting your needs). You could also try 1100 which is very soft and easily formed - not terribly strong, but if you're simply using it as a divider, it should work fine. Good luck with it!
Thanks! I am going to get some samples and see what works best for my application. I wonder what Lian Li uses in their cases. Anybody know?

How do you like it? I almost bought one last night while at Lowes but was unsure if it was going to be another investment like the HF metal brake.

I would assume so. Are there any other ways to get a decent bend in metal? I'm will to try anything!

Wow, that looks pretty good! What metal are you using there?

Yes, my offer still stands. And if you want to go cheaper still, albeit with a heavier weight, steel would make a fine divider as well. Just let me know when your schedule allows.

It looks like kev_b was using galvanized steel, but I'm sure he'll chime in.
