Does quality of microphone matter?

Thread Starter
I need a new microphone or so at least I'm told by those who hear my via Skype and other VOIP apps. I have an old Labtec desktop stand mic with a switch on it and it's always worked great.

Anything out there that is quality that is a desktop stand mic like I have? I don't want a clip on mic, I don't like them.

*What to look for in a mic?
*Recommendations?

logitech usb desktop microphone, around £20 on amazon.co.uk, clear and crisp, can't go wrong at that price, if you want something higher end go for a snowball blue microphone.

If what you've got works fine, no need to bother with a new one.

Yeah, I see a Logitech one on Newegg for $9.99. Will have to look at the Snowball one you mention.

See - this is what I always do! If it works, no need to replace it! But, just recently people (my friends, online buddies) say it's too low (mic boost on/volume up) etc; And I just keep reminding them that it still works...

Doesn't really matter unless you're using the microphone for vocal recording or frequency measuring.
