Help with a build please.

Thread Starter
Hello,
I am looking to build a new PC, for a main use of gaming. I have never built a pc before so I could use a hand when it somes to deciding the parts that i need to buy(I have people who can help me build).
I am going to be buying all my parts from Overclockers.co.uk
Here is a list of all the parts that (I think) i need to provide me with a good PC: http://imgkk.com/i/0hkb.jpg
This list totals at around £590. I dont have much more than that (litteraly £10-15 more )
If you could advise me on anything else at all that I would need to buy( i have nothing at all in my house). apart from an 18" monitor.
also are there any upgrades that could get? (does the psu need any change?)

I dont have the best of computer knowledge or supply of cash, but if you could give me any advice it would be apricated

Why the dvi to vga cable? On some monitors you can see a loss of quality with vga over dvi.

Do not pair a 125W processor with that motherboard, the unheatsinked 4+1 would be very dangerous especially because you're getting a tower cooler. Never get a Corsair CX series PSU for such a build. Go with a 1GB 460 if you can.
See if you can find an ASUS M4A79XTD EVO or M4A87TD EVO, and find a better PSU such as Antec NEO ECO 520W.

Looks good (the cooler master scout case is very nice, I have owned one before).

First off, don't forget OS software.

I would recommend picking up a cheap SSD like this to install your OS (and OS only) on:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820233122
And to use that 500GB for programs and storage.

Lastly, I would recommend getting an SLi compatible motherboard (or at least one with two PCI Expressx16 slots for Crossfire) just so you have the option to slap in a second graphics card in the future (this will make your rig a little more "future proof" in the long run)

And if you get an SLi board (or Crossfire one), I recommend going ahead and purchasing a 700watt+ PSU (again, just so you can expand and be more "future-proof").

I hope that helps, and good luck

I think you are probably the only person I have seen in these forums that has actually said something like this. Is there something wrong with that PSU? I don't understand.

thanks for the responses I will change my motherboard to a ASUS M4A79XTD EVO, as it is only £10 more. I will look into the 1GB instead of the 768mb, although I am seriously tight for cash, would the superclocked version do fine (or better?)
The PSU, would a 650W Atxsli corsair sli do ok?
one last thing, the case has 2 fan slots on the side, with a tower cooler, would i end up blocking the top/ bottem slot, if so, could anyone suggest a different cooler?

thanks for your time (sorry for slow response)

-the DVI cable has been updated

IMO. Don't bother with the superclocked version, spend the money towards the 1GB version, but 768MB should be sufficient if your not playing at really high resolutions.

I do not recommend Corsair CX ever for any builds containing a ~100W TDP or more graphics card. There are probably better choices for the price anyway.
