Thinking bout using Styrofoam to make a small computer case?

I was wondering if the styrofoam would make it hotter or cooler for the pc parts and if the motherboard could melt the styrofoam if it got to hot but i am gonna have it in the window sucking in all that cold winter air:questionm

Any comments would be greatly appreciated!!! smile.gif

some styrofoam is actually conductive and can hold static electricity, so i would advise against it... too cheapt to buy yourself a real pc case? :|

Styrofoam is a insulator. (Thats why they make Styrofoam cups)

It about the worse thing you can make a pc out of.

Its not durable, it melts, its conductive, its a insulator.

Bad idea is bad

Wood is a great material to make a custom case from scratch. Beats Styrofoam wink.gif

I'm glad you asked before you actually attempted it zothos. I have a suggestion. If you want to be creative, why don't you build one out of a milk crate?

It would be very cool if you lined it with mesh or panty holes for dust, maybe build some platforms inside for the PSU or something. Think about it homie.

Just make sure you think about airflow!!
also make sure its very very sturdy.

Wood is ok but make sure you dont use conductive paint (Anything that might be metal based) or anything that extremely flammable.

There are two problems with wood.
1. It can work as a insulator
2 It can burn!
