My 6970 cf

Thread Starter
well , i have bought a new pc 2day , ill list the pieces so u get an idea of what i have:
mobo: p6x58 d premium
cpu: i7 950
psu: corsair 850w
gpu: 2x sapphire 6970
ram: corsair tr3x6g1600c9 g ( 6gb in tri chanel)
a case and blablabla
Well, i often play aion and a friend of mine told me that with a single gtx 470 he was getting 100 fps , and me , with the 6970cf i get a perma 60/80 fps and i was wondering why , i've cheked the cf setup and its all in order BUT it automatically lowers its clock speed and memory when it doesnt need a big efford , and so does witht he fan speed , id like 2 raise my fps even that with 60 fps any game is playable , but since i've seen benchmarks and such of 6970cf giving 150 fps on games way more demanding than aion , i want that too xP.
Here u have an screen of ccc msiafterburner and cpuz results.

As you can see , the second gpu is only working if its making a task a little gpu demanding , i dont know if thats normal but i guess it is , else would be a waste of power.

PD: my internet is lame and i meant it , does that affects the fps? cuz as far as i know it just affects to ping.

Sorry for my aweful english and my lack of knowledge hope you can help me =)

I have no idea where Aion draws its power from, but if Aion is CPU dependant (like wow is) it might be your CPU that is giving you those fps readings.

What is your Ghz on the i7 950 and your friends computer?

also, your friend might be bloating about his fps

i honestly dun care , but i dont think he have a better cpu tahn i7 950 since hes pro intel and hes cpu is 2 years old , i dont think he gave away 1000$ for a better cpu , actually it takes 13% of my total cpu runing taht game , i just said taht about my friend as reference , i jsut wanna be sure that my gpus are ok and working as they are supposed 2 work

i dont even think that option exist , anyways , ive been toying with the ccc and ive seen options to increase the graphic performance , anti ailiasing and such do u think that there would be any problem if i play a lil with em?

PD: how do i check my cpu temperature? cpuz doesnt show or i cant see it

HWMonitor, and look in the game's options for quality settings. Don't change anything through CCC unless the game doesn't have any in game quality settings.

And the game should have a V-Sync setting...

Aion does have a V-Sync option and it allows for Fixed FPS rate. Usually disabled by default.

I just added a second unlocked 6950 to my setup and get the same issue decent FPS good enough for smooth gameplay but nothing more than that.

http://forums.aiononline.com/na/showthread.php?t=36434

In this forum, players mention that Aion is more CPU-dependant than GPU. One player mentions that Nvidia has a profile for their cards to help so I'm thinking a lil tweaking in Radeon Pro might help you out too.

Either way it looks like you won't get much from Aion GPU-wise also I wouldn't be surprised if the game is favourable to Nvidia or has some optimization issues with ATI drivers.

You wouldn't need all the extra FPS anyway, since you won't notice a single difference in gameplay. Try it out on the more serious games like Metro 2033 or other DX11 games. I know my 4890 gets laggy in some parts of Metro 2033 and even Fallout New Vegas, despite having a 1680x1050 resolution and close to 5850 performance.
