It seems like speculations from everyone.
I have two En blocks in my loop and one nickel plating from old generation and I've always been running the loop with distilled water and pure silver,

Give it time, I thought I was invincible too till my quad blocks corroded.

The blocks I got in summer 2010 took a while for them to start seriously corroding. The third block I got in December of 2010 and the rma replacement I got in February of 2011 crapped out within a few weeks to a month.

How's the rma going Tsm106?

If you plan on running your kit forever, don't. wink.gif

Agreed, which is why I qualified my statement slightly. Over the last six months or so, based on what I've read in these forums, there have been a comparable (and similarly very small) number of reports of plating failure in blocks made by other manufacturers too. In other words, there doesn't seem to be any current evidence that an EK EN nickel block is more likely to experience issues than a block made by anyone else.

Can't go wrong with straight Copper. It's not as Bling Bling as Nickel Plate but it does the job and doesn't take much to clean up. Wish my FC block was straight Copper. smile.gif

I have to say HeatKiller does a beautiful copper finish on their blocks. I haven't opened one up but the exterior/aesthethics have a beautiful brushed finish with nickel accents. The base's outside portion (the surface that meets the pcb) seems to be well machined. Ek does machine this surface good as well but their inside surface of the base leaves a bit to be desired of. Maybe the "rough" finish crates more surface area? Or maybe not tongue.gif

I would like to dissect other blocks if I could but I have no sponsorship. frown.gif (lame)

Yeah I was just on Tiny Tom's Facebook thinkin the same thing in a way. tongue.gif

I decided to open a Craig's Listing offering build services for anyone looking locally for a system. There are too many people easily taken advantage of by the local Stores where systems are concerned. I figure if I can save a few people from themselves then it would be worthwhile. biggrin.gif lol

So are there members having any problems with EK's newer EN blocks? If so what's in your loop additive wise?

I went naked to avoid it. Though I was using non "EN" blocks which are more susceptible to this nickel break down. If you have EK nickel blocks (and Koolance) don't use silver or any biocide with copper sulfate. These two biocides could void your warranty even thought these two companies have scapegoated them for shoddy quality tbh. If you have any doubts, go copper thumb.gif
