I browse XS because they post nice pictures of systems biggrin.gif and sometimes I find nice information there. RRT, I signed up for an account just so I could look at some pictures that were being posted, but I have to say that CC's opinion seems spot on (and made me lol). Overall OCN is the bestest which is why I post here tongue.gif You're free to say what you want as long as you are not downright insulting and they don't try to censor everyone like XS.

Back on topic:

As long as EK continues to blame their customers instead of admitting fault and actually changing their ways I will never purchase another product from them again or recommend anyone else purchase from them. I have never seen a company so willing to lose business before, but I do find it hilarious. When compared with a company like EVGA that actually replaced faulty GPUs with an even better product, EK looks ridiculous.

When I bought my very first watercooling equipment I bought both a nickel block and an EK res before this whole thing broke out. My res ended up cracking (big surprise) and my nickel flaked horribly.

XS are not so fortunate...
I post at RRT,once you get past the crunchy, spiky outer shell, there is much to gain from being a member there.

I know all that but associating myself with the site is the same associating with the owner. I had my own account there (giving no indication who I was here) and it got banned* by Red pretty quick after I tried putting another side to a relatively minor issue. He probably doesn't remember it and wouldn't even care if he did, so I won't. I used the words I did for a reason; the smallest screwup no matter who you are or what you're selling is enough to earn you 3 pages of a one-sided flame war (filled with the same middle-school-level insults and edited GIFs over and over) on that forum, whereas here it took EK messing up as bad as they did as much as they did to get threads this big. Not to mention the only thing that sets them apart from what I could see while registered is their info and testing that they gain/perform independently. Of course, they blow things out of proportion when looking over at others' posts, but that's beside the point and I don't consider their remarks on such posts to be valuable information to any extent in the first place.

*He claims to never ban anyone but that's an outright lie; by definition, force-redirecting a user upon login to another website is denying access to the account, I.E., banning it from being used ever again. Worst redirect I've ever seen, btw, but I won't link to what site it was, very religious.

Back to the thread, EK needs to do a reversal on their approach if they want to regain any customers; between the catastrophe that was the plating and the "fix" for it, and the new style they applied to their whole lineup, I wouldn't be shocked if the company went under in the next couple of years if not sooner.

I think they need to keep off nickel plating for a while to sort this or just get away from it completely. I'm sure they can offer "limited edition chrome" blocks like some of the other makers. Their stuff performs well when it comes to the bottom line in water cooling. But a lot of aesthetics is put forward with enthusiast these days and they (EK) seem to be forcing both at the same time. Form following function thumb.gif

I just got a mb with an EK block. Its in good shape and knowing the age of the mb, it was probably done well before the nickel issue erupted. Still, as i"ve said many times, I'm glad to support the enthusiast community when I buy preown stuff. This one is acetal, so I won't bother staring at any nickel degradation if it does or has occured.

consider yourself lucky, Red forwarded my RRtech log in to a gay black pRon site (true story) . . . I have nightmares about anacondas for a year afterwards

I have loads of different online accounts as well: OCN, XDA, Bit-tech, EvgaForums, XS (only briefly; I've stopped going there now), NotebookReviews, RRTech (just to use as a lurker.) and Reddit.
