In the case of EK they have to translate the other way around: from their native Slovenian to a secondary language (English) which greatly increases the difficulty. They have to preserve the meaning of the report, too. It takes time, especially if their business depends on the quality of the translation.
So for me the delay in the translation is completely justified. Their handling of this issue on the whole, however, is another story.
They could be translating from Klingon to Aramaic for all I care. Based on the slant of their few communications as well as their handling of the issue, I don't need a universal translator to smell what that report will likely entail.
