New build - Need opinions

Hi there! This is going to be my first build, haven't tried overclocking before but i've heard it's easy on the new Sandy Bridge, so i'm really in for trying it and would be happy enough to reach 4.5 GHZ.

Is everything fine or do you have any recommendations what I should change?

Asus P8P67 PRO
1TB Samsung Spinpoint F3 HD103SJ
120GB 2.5" SSD Intel X25-M G2
Intel Core i5 2500K 3,3GHz
Corsair 8GB (2x4096MB) 1600MHz VENGEANCE
Noctua NH-U12P SE2
Gigabyte GeForce GTX 570 1280MB
Cooler Master HAF X
Samsung SH-S223C 22X DL Black
Corsair HX 650W 80+

Is the power supply good enough by the way? / cooler

Aswell is that moderboard easier to overclock on compared to the others?

Could also go with the cheaper Corsair 8GB (2x4096MB) 1600MHz XMS3 memory, but i'm not quite sure what the differences are.

Thanks in advance!

It seems like a pretty good build.

The power supply will be more than enough, and the cooler also will probably get you to 4.5GHz.

All Sandy Bridge motherboards made by a decent manufacturer are pretty much the same. It will probably not overclock any better than a Gigabyte/MSI/EVGA board but it is still a good choice nonetheless. Asus is one of the best manufacturers.

I don't particularly like Corsair RAM, though many people swear by them. I personally always go with Mushkin, I heard that G.Skill is also a very good brand of memory. They are usually not as overpriced as Corsair.

Good luck with the build.

Cheers for the info!

I'm not sure about the RAM.. if the 1,5 V I get from the Vengence memory instead of the 1600MHz XMS3 1,65 V is worth it?

Really not sure about the cooler either, I just randomly picked one...

Will it be enough for my needs you think or got any other cooler to suggest?

If you want a quiet system when overclocked, buy an NH-D14 or Silver Arrow cpu cooler. They are the ultimate for air cooling.

Well... Intel recommends 1.5v for RAM on Sandy Bridge, though I think it is perfectly safe to use 1.65v. I think most people here would agree with me on that too. If the XMS3 is cheaper I'd go with that.

Cooling wise, the cooler you picked is really nice, though it emphasizes silence so it is priced a little higher for the performance you will get. You will see better temperatures out of the Megahalems for around the same price. It will be enough for your needs though either way. The Noctua NH-D14 is around the same noise level and has the best performance on the market, though it is very expensive. It depends if you are willing to spend $90 on an air cooler really.

Well the XMS3 are only about 20 euros cheaper for me, so might aswell just go with the Vengence I guess. I'll just keep the cooler I picked then

One more question though, about the HAF X case. I know some fans are coming with the case, but is it enough for my needs or will I need to buy any additonal?

Sorry for the stupid question but i'm really worried my temps etc won't be enough!

Filling up all of the fan slots is generally a good idea for air flow. I personally would try to do that so that air flow is balanced and you are getting the absolute best temperatures possible. You could get some fans for $5-10 each or $10-15 for some decent ones. The HAF X is known for its excellent cooling capabilities, you should take advantage of it.
