MCR420 vs dual MCR420

Thread Starter
I am contemplating adding another MCR420-QP with the intention of a future purchase of a gtx 580 hydrocopper or the successor to the 580 later down the line. But will another quad really help me ?

I remember reading somewhere that the more radiators you add diminishes the returns of lower temps.

My setup is as follows.

i7 930 - OC'ed to 4.2 ghz stable (Wish I could make this 4.5ghz stable)
EK Supreme HF - Rev 2 - Full Copper - Nickel Plated
MCP 655 PUMP on max settings
MCR420-QP - with 8 x 2k RPM Fans
XSPC Dual 5.25" Bay Reservoir - Black
EVGA X58 SLI LE
Dual Nvidia 9800 gtx+
Hauppauge 2250 TV Tuner(Not sure if this contributes lots of heat)
6gb mushkin redline ddr3 1600mhz 6-8-6-20

current temps are 28c (38-40 on cores according to E-leet tuning)

Appreciate any responses.

With those fans and that huge radiator another 480mm radiator isn't going to drop your temperatures much, maybe 2-3C.

1 is plenty you dont have much in your loop to warrant 2 480's

I doubt you'll see a drastic difference in temperature between 1 vs 2 480s in a single loop. It will help, but as you've already stated, there is a point of diminishing returns when it comes to the number of rads you have in a loop, and I think you'll have passed it with 2x480s in a single loop. If you really want to add another rad, consider splitting your loop in 2.
