I just ordered an EVGA Superclocked GTX 570! - Page 2

Great news! I got home from work yesterday to find the card ready and waiting. I promptly installed the card and updated the drivers. Once that was finished, I loaded up Crysis to see the difference.

First, i left the settings in Crysis alone to see what the fps difference would be between my old SLI 8800GTS 512 setup, and the new SC GTX 570 would be. Previously I was running Crysis in DX9 mode with the Very High on the Cheap settings as shown here. Before I was getting around 30-40 fps with my old SLI setup. The new card handled those same settings at 55-65 fps, probably averaging around 60. However, the biggest difference I noticed was the complete lack of stuttering and slow downs. Before, whenever I would quickly move my mouse, the game would slightly stutter and slow down. Not any more. There were absolutely no FPS dips at all.

So then I restored all of the original crysis config files and tested the game out in DX10 mode on Very High accross the board. To my amazement, it handled it like a champ. The game was running at 48 fps or so, and it didn't slow down ever. I've never experienced Crysis running this smooth, ever. Even when moving the mouse violently in every direction, the game did not slow down. I ran the standard Crysis GPU benchmark, and it gave an average fps of around 48, with a minimum of 40 and a max of 68.

Next, I tried the Metro 2033 demo (I don't own the game yet ). I turned it up to very high (or whatever the max setting is called) and started playing the demo. I was getting 35fps indoors and 25fps outdoors. It was a little lower then I like, but you could still play it at those framerates because it didn't lag at all. From what I've heard about that game, that is still pretty impressive.

Finally, If you've seen some of my other posts, you will know that I recently started playing through Oblivion again. I have had the game for a long time, but have never actually finished it. So, I've been playing it lately so that I can finish the main story line before Skyrim comes out. I'm giving myself plenty of time so i can take part in all the side quests that I want. I had sold one of my 8800GTS cards before I started playing this game again. So on only 1 8800GTS I was getting around 80 fps in most places. Now I'm getting over 300fps! This card can absolutely eat through an older game.

Needless to say, I'm very impressed with the card. I was somewhat nervous that the jump from SLI 8800GTS 512 cards wouldn't be that great, but I was a fool for feeling that way. The new card has so much more horsepower then the SLI setup I was using. Games run so much smoother now. I'm a very happy customer.

awesome!!! 8800's were great cards and it sounds like the 570 follows in their tradition of awesomeness lol.

I have a pair of 570's out for delivery right now (WAITING FOR UPS IS DRIVING ME MAD!)

P.S. you should have thrown up a few pics of the 570!

I have a few pics of it before I installed it, however, I was too busy gaming with it last night to get the pics off the camera I'll try to get them up tonight. I forgot to mention that in my last post.

I hate waiting on UPS to deliver my stuff. That is the worst. At least I had work to distract me.

I recently went from an 8800gtx (single card on an e6700 platform!) to the 570gtx SC and love it so far. Right now I'm running at the "stock" SC settings and want to bump that up a bit; what utility do you guys recommend? I haven't OC'd a GPU before.

Afterburner? (which version for this card?)
Something else?
Any 'recommended' settings to bump this baby up to on stock cooling?

Thanks!

I haven't overclocked this card at all, but with my 8800GTS cards, I used EVGA Precision for my overclocks. It seemed to work fine for me, although, i didn't push it high enough to have to change the voltage.

I have fond memories on my 8800 card. It's still in the closet. Looking to possibly upgrade to a 570 myself, so I'm glad to hear how much you liked it.

So, as promised, here are the pictures of the card. Unfortunately, in my excitement, I forgot to take pics of the card in the case. I'll have to get around to doing that sometime in the future. For now, these will have to do.
