What's so extreme with the X?

And if your going to use a video card, would there be any gain from using the Z over the P?

X79 is for the upcoming SB-Extreme. 6 or possibly 8 core beast. Should be able to reach much higher OCs than Gulftown at least. No integrated graphics but you don't need one if you're spending $700-$1000 on the CPU.

And no on the 2nd part. If you don't already have a P67 mobo, you should probably get a Z68. Unless you can somehow find a P67 for much cheaper and you're on a budget although they should the same price or ~$10 more. You'll probably regret not being able to use QuickSync in the future though.

You can use the CPU's graphics for video encoding because its much faster than a dedicated card would be. You can go back a few pages and see the argument we had about this lol

Wouldn't the extremely continuous write degrade the SDD very quickly?

QuickSync is a feature using the integrated GPU in Sandy Bridge for tools such as video encoding.

Does the gigabyte just oc better than the asus, or are we just seeing gigabyte users with higher results posting?

Also, if you don't have a p67 or a z68 board currently, would you guys go with a z68? It seems as though it's a p67 with integrated graphics and ssd caching.

They both can hit 5Ghz easily, it's just dependent on your CPU.
I'd say get the Z68 if you're looking to buy now and yes it's basically the best of P67(CPU) and H67(iGPU) combined in one with ssd caching.

Hey guys, so i just posted my OC on the front page, just completed my build yesterday. You guys think the fact that I'm using IGP affects my OC? (I'm waiting for the Twin Frozr III from Amazon in my Sig... hopefully i get soon). I didn't do too much testing as I simply just used OC Genie, which OCed to 4.2, then I moved multiplier to x45 & 4.5GHz. Prime95 did fail on 4.7/4.8 with those same settings though... I didn't try tweaking as I was tired

p.s. Hey, i got the first Z68 OC result there
