Question About WOW. - Page 3

If your friends have already bought the game, get them to recruit-a-friend you for the earlier levels. I think topping up this way might be slightly cheaper.

I was just about to post that, there's no point paying for it until you know that you actually like it.

This, you get 300% more experience, and you can give levels to your friend that recruited you

Edit: and when you buy the game and a monthly payment, he halso gets a month ^^

You only get 300% experience if your friend is in a group with you close by, and below lvl 60.
Quote:
Do I always gain triple experience while I am linked to my recruit?
No. In order to receive triple experience, you must be partied with a character on a linked account and within 100 yards of one another. With this, both characters (veteran and recruit) must be present for each kill and quest completion.
Also, should monsters or quests be marked as "Low Level" or listed as gray in difficulty for either character, triple experience will not apply.
You can only give levels for every two levels you get, then only to someone that not above level 59. There are other restrictions as well.
Quote:
Are there are any restrictions on granting levels? Yes:
  1. Levels may only be granted to characters on a veteran account by characters on a linked recruit account
  2. Levels may only be granted to characters of the same faction and on the same realm
  3. Levels may not be granted to characters over level 59
  4. Levels may not be granted to characters of equal or higher level
  5. Levels may not be granted once a 90-day account link breaks
  6. Levels may not be granted to veteran characters with XP gains disabled.

With this, once a level is granted, it may not be used again. For example: If a recruit character possessed 15 "grantable" levels and provided 10 to a veteran character, only 5 would remain for future use.

First statement isn't true, though.

Do our characters (my character and my recruit's character) have to be same level in order to receive triple experience?

No, but you must be within 4 levels of one another and meeting all other triple experiences requisites in order for both characters to receive triple experience. If this level requirement is not met, only the lower level character will receive the bonus. For example your characters can be levels 5 and 9 and earn the bonus but not 5 and 10.

Meaning low level will still get triple exp, to clarify.

*facepalm* I overlooked that part, I was sure there was a limit to the level difference between accounts but didn't see anything. Thanks for clearing that up!

I just bought the game (Battle Chest + WOTLK) since I played the trial and figured I'd like it. I would recommend to wait on the Cata though because it'll be a few months before you really get into its content and there's no guarantee that you'll commit to the game that much.
Buuuut if you just want it for the sake of getting it no one can stop you .
Just make sure you don't play obsessively and you'll be fine.

qft. I used to sell accounts and some of these people got insane into it.. Keep in mind account selling is against blizzard's TOS (and I am in no way suggesting it, just putting up conversation) .. These people were dropping over $2000 for an account.

Yes, it was a very good account and yes, it had something maybe only 100 accounts had in the world but still... Its just a little insane.

Its to the point where many of my buddies who used to sell accounts (still do) started a buisiness of it.. They'll buy for $130 or so and resell for $400+, they make in an hour what I used to make in 2 weeks at my first job. Just mindblowing the lengths people will go to "be the best" in the game.
