Gtx 580 or Ati 6950 cf

They are both going to cost me the same. I believe that the 6950 cf will be more powerful but as most say a single card is better in some ways.

I play at 1920 x 1080 and I play lost of different games

All comments welcome

I have both cards and i have to say GTX580 ~ 20% faster then HD 6970. That in mind there is no game GTX580 cant play that HD 6970 cant. The only games they both struggle is Crysis and Metro. Also HD 6950s are faster the GTX570s by a bit and if you unlock them they get very close GTX580s performance but that will not happened with you system. I would say just get one HD 6950 or GTX570.

Here is a link shown some numbers between gtx580 and 6950 CF. In general, I would stay with single GPU.
Get the 6950 and unlock it into the 6970 CF and bam! more power than a 580

You could run the 6870's in CF and be faster that 1 GTX580.

With what you've got, pick up a single 6950 and unlock it with a BIOS flash. That's my next move. I'm going to wait to upgrade to Sandybridge I think.

The thing that stops me just getting the 6950's is that some ppl have reported problems with xfire in game and not all games support xfire either

Read some reviews, most modern games support CF. The only one I can think of off the top of my head that does not is Juarez 2. You can see that in this review. It still maxes the game out though.

http://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/A...ossFire/1.html

However, even in CF Eyefinity the extra gb on the 6950 gives little to no advantage in most games over a 6870 setup. Plus you save $120 and still max out games.
