i5 2500k oem cooler question

Thread Starter
I've got an older build with an i7-860 and all it needs is a cooler (this system will NEVER be overclocked, so OEM is fine). I ordered a 2500k and was wondering if I could use the OEM cooler that comes with it? I've already got an aftermarket cooler for the 2500k so it would be great if I could use the cooler on the i7-860 build. I assume it will work since they use the same mounting holes but I just wanted to double check.

Both have the same mounting holes, and I think they share the same style of stock cooler, anyway. Don't expect to overclock the 860, however.

Youll be fine but of course use core temp to monitors the temps for a while to double check.

Should be ine - both have the same tdp @ 95 watts.

Try to put on some better paste if you can. You mentioned no overclocking, but you may want to try undervolting to reduce temps. If SB can overclock a fair bit on stock volts, it'll undervolt quite a bit too.
