A NEW Prime95 failure?

Thread Starter
While testing w/Prime95 after 8.5 hrs I decided to turn off the monitor and head to bed. A few minutes later I just had to look one last time to see where things were at and found it BSOD. This has happened two times this weekend while stabilizing a 1090T. I've never known just turning off the monitor would affect stability and wonder if this is a sign of instability or just a fluke thing (coincidence). Happening one time no problem, but now twice in one weekend?

Just so happens at that same time I also (finally) noticed too, that windows date had changed instead of Jan 16th 2011 it was at March 16th 2000 which I missed from when it BSOD earlier in the day and as it was currently at the 8 1/2 hr mark and rather than changing the time when prime was running I decided to just let it run as the time was correct. Just the date was off lol. Any thoughts?

Better to just repeat test with same settings again? Yes, it is VERY close to being stable previous settings passed 15 hrs of prime when the same thing happened with turning off, than turning monitor back on. Where I did increase the vcore 2 bumps to help assure stability.

What would you do at this point?

Have you tried sleep mode, like in pic below.
I have mine set this way and the monitor turns off but is awakened by moving the mouse.

Good luck

I usually do have it setup that way but for long test periods I like to leave it on. But that does make more sense at this point. After this test I'll go back to that method but just to take chance out of the game I think I'll just leave it on to see if it will go 24 hrs, I got antsy and decided to try the last settings again only not messing with the monitor this time. It's been a long 3 day battle searching for that "Just Enough Voltage" setup.

Its might be your CPU-NB voltage.

The IMC only gets stressed in prime95 at the 8+ hrs mark aka the large FTT tests.

Also you can skip prime95 blend 1-8 hrs by doing a custom test only using large ftts.

Link for info.

http://www.overclock.net/general-pro...-settings.html

If the issue turns into restarts, you'll have to up the CPU-voltage (from my experience). With the IMC in the CPU issues seem to jump between them.

Like your example, I've found increasing CPU voltage increases stability on the IMC.

Good luck!

A most informative link, thank you very much!

I agree with the restart probably needing more vcore. I did raise it one bump after re-testing the previous settings which failed (BSOD) after 15 hrs. That was this morning, and am currently running blend again with the new increase in vcore. I'll be saving this link and referring back to it as needed. That's some good info! Appreciate you sharing it. I find those who give info along with link's to be the most valuable way to learn, and wish more people (like you and I) would do things this way other than just a recommendation of what to do when helping others. My self I always try to include such informative links when they apply and I have them to share.
+Rep for the good info!

Thanks, the custom tests saved me a lot of time (and hope it'll save you time too).

When crashes are in the 12+ hrs zone with prime95 blend I could only make 1 tweak a day.

With the custom test I was able to do two tweaks a day on voltage.

Run one before I sleep at one before I go to work. If it passes the large FTT run, I'll start my 24 hr prime95 blend test and than call it a day.

Good luck!
