Hey guys. I just got my new B3 in today, and I'm a little unhappy (and confused
Not about OCing. So far, it's seeming to OC just as well as before. Only exception there is the B3 seems to be more power hungry. Not to an extreme degree on the Vcore. On average (@4.5Ghz), the Vcore runs the same at about 1.26-1.28v, but there has always been a brief spike that caused the recorded MAX (w/ HWMonitor) to be 1.30v before. Now, that peak is 1.32v. So, no big deal there.
My major issue is my astonishing increase in temps. The temps of my CPU & GPU are both up by like 5-10c when at idle or basic use (i.e. not gaming). I feel I can safely say it has little to nothing to do with the thermal paste or application of it. Actually, at this point, my thought is that the new board is feeding my hardware more watts(?).
The reason for this conclusion can be seen in these before and after screen-shots. Notice under CPU it was down at ~6w. With my B3, it's only as low as ~11w. I also noticed the MAX voltage for VIN6 was much different. No idea what that means...

What do you guys think? Is it that wattage that's causing the higher temps at idle and such? I gotta say, I'm glad that extra 5-10c doesn't show at the max.
EDIT: I just had a thought; More power=more stability. I wonder if I can actually run that 5Ghz stable now...? It seemed very close before at just over 1.4v. This might actually be worth it. LOL
EDIT2: LOL, sorry. Forgot to mention two other things: I have yet to get a "cold boot". Is that bad? Also, my mobo now beeps at me everytime it starts/reboots. I'm confused, everything is installed correctly and working. Should it have done this before, or...?Edited by Rezard - 3/21/11 at 5:47pm
