Was going to tell you it was probably the cpu power getting unplugged, friend of mine did the same thing like last month don't feel too bad.

Both are normal.

Retention level is supposed to be tight and the noises where the pins pushing slightly into the LGA pads and the metal retention mechanism flexing.

Idk if some1 mentioned this yet but when I put mine in and closed it gave a screetching noise too. thought I ruined it at first but since I put the cpu in correctly according to manual I just kept going. I am coming from am2+ so It was new thing to me to learn that when you put the cpu in and close the pins bend. If you actually loook at the socket and cpu it is impossible to put it in wrong the notches wont work any other way. and if you did put it in wrong it wouldnt close. Try booting with one stick of ram. any post error codes?
