AMD Athlon X3 425 Overclocking - Page 2

Raise the ht link and nb freq so they are both at 2080mhz.
Put the ram up to the 533 divider, that will give you about stock speed on the ram.(684mhz)
Do a couple hrs of prime,if it passes then start raising the cpu multi x.5 at a time, testing between each rise.(these tests can be shorter (10 mins) if you want.
Until it does not boot or fails prime.See where that gets us.

Good luck

Tested 290 while I was asleep. No errors on Prime for 7 hours and temps stayed around 40c. What is a ram divider and how do I change it? I have a ram multiplier setting.

Here is new CPU-Z stuff:

My ram multiplier setting is just like a cpu multiplier. Mine is set a 2 right now. Next step is 2.66. Is this the setting you are talking about? If not, can you help me find it in my bios?

Yup 2.66 multi, it shows the speed next to it in the bios.

If you plan to keep testing for a higher ref clock then leave the ram multi where it is till you are as high as you want to go.

We don't need to change it till we are ready to up the cpu multi. (done testing ref clock)

Setting it to x2.66 results in my ram speed going to somewhere around 750 MHz. I somehow doubt my fail ram is going to overclock so do you still want me to set it to x2.66?

If you are done raising the ref clock we can try it at 2.66,then run prime and if it's unstable change it back.
I mentioned it when you were at a lower ref clock(270),so it has jumped a little since you are now at 290.
We may have to drop the ref clock some when we start raising the cpu multi.

Okay I'll test the ht link and nb at 2030 (best I can do without going over 2080) and ram at 750 (x2.66) tonight.

Won't even go into bios under x2.66. It just idles for like 15 seconds and the bios changes the ref clock from manual to default. Works just fine under x2. Testing the new nb and ht speeds tonight.

Might have some Kingston ram that I could switch out from another computer. I think the Kingston could handle a little overclocking.
