BSOD if I touch the ref clock. It was a like $30 so I didn't expect much. But once I get a new one I'll shoot for as high as I can go.

Nice OC so far. making me want to OC mine

If it fails later in the test bump cpu volts 1 notch and test again.

Good luck

Ya . I have been helping someone else to and got x4 640 on the brain

Ok, now we can fine tune the ref clock.

Start by raising ref clock one notch at a time from 265 and do a short test,if it passes raise one again and test, raise cpu volts one if it fails along the way.
See if you can get to 274 with less than 1.5v on the cpu.
13.5 x 274=3699mhz, the number you are shooting for.

Good luck

BSOD at 272 ref clock. Had it at 1.475 vcore. Had it like that from 266 ref clock. Stable for 10 mins at 271 ref clock, 1.475 vcore, 3672 MHz on Prime95 blend test. What should I do next?

Also about how much life does the extra voltage take from the CPU? Like how long can I expect this CPU to last? Please don't reply with "you'll upgrade before it dies".

Bump the vcore another notch, see if you can get to 274.You only need 3 more on the ref clock for 3.7.so close.

As for the extra voltage, you shouldn't need to worry until you get over 1.55v.
1.55v is the recommended max for air cooling.
But we won't be going that high.
It will still last a good long time below 1.5v.
If you are worried about the volts we can always back the oc down to 3.6(still a 900mhz oc).

Also you might want to consider getting some of these http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...-011-_-Product for the mosfets on the mb.

Okay also I tested 271 with the 1.475 v core overnight and it BSOD at one point. Don't know when. I'll try going to 272 with the extra voltage.

Tested 272 ref clock at 1.5 volts and it also BSODed at one point. Didn't test 271 at 1.5 volts but even if it was stable, having to add more voltage for 1 ref clock is absurd. So basically the last know for sure stable overclock was 270 ref clock at 1.475V. I don't think I am going to go over 1.5v, I might even take it back to 3.6 GHz because of all the extra voltage needed for less than 100 MHz. So what's next?

Ok,I agree it's not worth the voltage.

So drop the ref clock back to 267 x 13.5(3604mhz)and then drop the vcore one notch and test, etc..
See how low you can go.
Post a cpu-z cpu and memory ss when you are stable.
