I would like to make just a couple cost-saving suggestions to microman's build, since that seems like the guildline you're going by, OP.
Instead of going with that Corsair 650w, go with this Seasonic 520w
. You don't need a 650w+ to power a i3/Gtx 460 non OC'd system, and Corsair is
a Seasonic, so the quality is still top notch.
I would also like to make a suggestion to the case. The Storm Sniper is a truly sexy case, but on a $750 budget, a $90 case limits your hardware and your wallet. The Antec 300
is a tride and true, battle tested case that you really can't go wrong with for a budget build. With rebate, this saves another $40 dollars.
Lastly, but not a huge cost saver, would be the RAM. Besdies the fact that OCZ appears to have some less-than-great quality control with their RAM (although I can not personally speak for that), going with G.Skill
in this case can save $10. However, this is only if you really
want to pinch pennies.
All in all, that would shave $70 off if you were to consider these suggestions.
Edit: As for the Hyper212 heatsink, it will keep temps lower for sure, but it's not a necessity. That would bring the price down an additional $30.
And don't forget the promo code on that 1TB drive, but I know microman already mentioned that.Edited by HealthyBigMac - 1/16/11 at 6:43pm
