Thread Starter
How would i know when a Drive in a Raid 1 array is bad?

IF that ever happens, how does one fix the situation?

Thanks

Usually your controller will throw errors for a degraded array.
You should also get SMART drive errors.

To fix, remove faulty drive, replace with non-faulty drive, add non-faulty drive to the same array. Controller should automatically begin rebuilding data onto the new drive.

I use intel rapid storage technology, it tells you if the raid array is working ok and if one of the drives fails it automatically rebuilds the array for you in windows. Really decent software.
