[Solved] Windows 7 64bit not recognizing RAM?

I just built my new SB system but ran into a problem.

Windows 7 64 bit only recognizes half of my RAM (4 out of 8GB). They are 4x2 GB sticks. The BIOS now says I have 8GB, every SysInfo program says I have 8GB, yet Windows is only using half.

I opened about 100 firefox windows and ran a game to see what would happen, and it maxed out 100% RAM at under 4GB.

It appears having the mode in BIOS set to Power Saving halves your RAM. I put it up to performance mode and it worked.

***?

Have you tried starting with 1 stick of RAM? Do that for all your sticks to checl for faulty sticks.

And memtest.

This is not a Windows issue. The stock ASUS P8P67 Pro BIOS only allows Windows access to 4Gb of RAM. The 1003 BIOS ups that to 8Gb, the 1053 ups it to 16Gb.

I'm not yanking your chain, check here.

I updated the BIOS to 1003. Before I flashed it, the last time I rebooted, the BIOS said I had the correct 8GB, but Windows isn't using all of it.

Perhaps someone can make something of this mess:

This is before the BIOS update?

Hey all. Let me start off by saying yes, I have searched the forums and google for a solution to my problem, but so far, no luck. I have a Gateway FX6831 desktop with 8gb of ram, however windows 7 (yes it is x64) thinks I only have 4gb. It used to find all 8gb, and I have no idea why it's failing to now. Memtest (from within windows) finds 0 errors. Cpu-z does find all 8gb. I also updated my bios to the latest version, but it also only finds 4gb, and will not let me adjust the RAM settings at all. Does anyone have a solution?

Should you need to, you can find my full system specs here:
