Hey guys. Screwing around on a computer I built off a Compaq motherboard when I saw this:

I'm really hoping this is a bad reading....

I'm surprised it even reads voltages... lol. I would be safe and not turn that computer on until u can get a cheap biostar for 30 bucks.

Pretty much every pre built computer uses extra voltage. Why? I dont know, probably for extra stability and so something dies faster so you have to buy a new computer from them.

yeah, the other thing is HWMonitor will only display the voltage when I'm logged in as an admin, if not it only sees temps. Also one of the temps reported is -128 which is obviously inaccurate. The fan is really quiet/slow, and the CPU temps are low, so thevoltage can't be that high. If it was it would be burning up....unless frequency affects temps as well? I heard only voltage changes temps.

This wouldnt surprise me really....it's like the newer hdd's we have and the many failures compared to ones from five years ago which seem to never die...all about it lasting just long enough

The -128c reading is the program trying to read a temp sensor that doesn't exist.

I would hope it's a bad reading too.
1.664v would kill the chip pretty damn fast.
