Need some help with purchasing GTX460/6870 - Page 3

The HD6870 performs better than the GTX460 and is quieter, consumes less power and outputs less heat.

Right. But since no one has a 6870 that was willing to down-clock slightly, to get at my stable OC's, so we could compare the performance, clock for clock, I went ahead and found out myself.

6870 > 460, agreed, because the 6870, appears, to be able to reach 1ghz rather easy. If the 460 could go that high, or the 6870 didn't go as high, it'd be pretty much the same..

that's not my point, do you not understand what I'm stating in my posts?

I'm saying chances of these cards reaching 1ghz is very slim so if you get the lucky one yours might hit 1ghz stable, there's a thread today about a guy hitting 1ghz stable with Cyclone gtx 460. So I'm not saying I know more than kit guru, I'm saying as I said, chances are slim, very slim i can't really give you any figures but probably couple out of total number of them produced, who knows?

to OP.

I think just get which ever one is cheaper, but you could wait for gtx 560 and see how much prices is going to shift with gtx 460 and other video cards.

edit: regardless, Lets be in peace arizonian

I agree and my argument in any post is AMD 6870 is better than GTX 460 in my own opinion.

I owned my own AMD 6870 and ran it 1000/1175 for 32.0Gpixles with 150.4 Bandwidth.

And I belive you Mekaw that Nvidia might have sent cherry picked cards for those reviews. Right now it's a bitter war with Nvidia and AMD. As consumers we're getting lower prices.
