I have an e8400 and a GTX 570... Bottlenecks are over rated. I can max out Metro 2033 easily in DX 11

It's awful; great graphics, worst gameplay EVER, it's just so dull.

Anyway, I find myself digressing, time to get back on OT.

Price range for your upgrades OP?

If its gaming, I'd just upgrade the GPU (you'll have to anyway) first and see how your system performs. SB is a great performer but it ain't gonna render crap for you, you still need a fast GPU. So even with an upgrade to SB, you're still going to have to upgrade your video card. The Q6700 is long in the tooth but nothing to scoff at, its still a very fast and capable CPU when clocked well. Point us to the thread when/if you start one on the overclocking for your Q6700. I'm sure we can get to 3.6-3.8Ghz with an H50.

hmm... well this is where im at. i have a connection with somebody who works at intel and i've kind of hinted at getting the 2500k. (he's the lead demo manager) ... i'm thinking the corporate discount he would get would justify upgrading. obviously i will be needing a new gpu, most likely will be getting a 400 series card or the 560. at least for the gpu, i will be waiting on the market. i dont need to upgrade until crysis 2/battlefield 3.

In that case, a corporate discount does change things a bit. Find out exactly what kind of discount you can get. If you can get a good amount off, by all means take advantage of your awesome hook up. Oh and by the way did I mention I'm in the market for lead demo manager friends too?
